New Delhi: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday greeted everyone on the auspicious occasion of Maha Puja Chhath Puja of Surya worship on Friday. Started on Saturday and will conclude on Saturday after the devotees offer Arghya to the rising sun. Mr. Javadekar tweeted, Heartfelt greetings to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Mahaparva Chhath Puja of Surya worship. Shri Naqvi wrote, Hearty greetings to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja Mahaparva. Today is the third day of Chhath Mahaparva lasting for four days. Arghya will be offered to the setting sun this evening. It is also called Sandhya Arghya. The method of offering arghya to the rising sun is in many fasts and festivals but the tradition of offering arghya to the setting sun is only in Chhath. Before offering arghya, the bamboo basket is decorated with fruits, thekua, rice laddus and items of worship. Shortly before sunset, the sun god is worshiped and then the sun god is drowned five times during the drowning.
