Islamabad: A major train accident occurred in Pakistan on Monday morning. Two trains collided head-on in Daharki area of Sindh. It is said that 30 people have been killed and many more injured in the accident so far. According to reports, the Sir Syed Express train heading towards Lahore collided with the Millat Express which was launched on its way from Karachi to Sargodha. Pakistani media quoted Ghotki Deputy Commissioner Abdullah as saying that at least 30 people were killed and 50 injured in the train crash.

At least 30 people have been killed and several others injured in a collision between the Millat Express and the Sir Syed Express between Ghotki Reti and Daharki railway stations, Pakistan’s ARY News reported.

According to Abdullah, about 13 to 14 bogies have been derailed and six to eight bogies have been completely destroyed. He said many passengers were still trapped and rescue and rescue work was underway.
“This is a challenging task. It will take time to use heavy equipment to rescue the trapped people,” Abdullah was quoted as saying by DAWN News. He said a medical camp was being set up to provide medical assistance to the injured. Pakistan Rangers Allied forces in Sindh have reached the spot and are conducting rescue operations.
