PM Modi hands over Rs 14,000 crore to Bihar before assembly elections

new Delhi. Prior to the Bihar Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone of 9 highway projects to be built at a cost of Rs 14,258 crore. Apart from this, he also inaugurated optical fiber internet services to connect all 45,945 villages of Bihar with internet. After laying the foundation stone and inaugurating these projects through video conference, Modi said that today is another important day of Bihar’s development journey.

He said that the number of people using Internet in villages of India will ever be more than the urban people, it was difficult even to think a few years ago. Many women questioned the village women, farmers and the youth of the village would also use the internet so easily. But now all these situations have changed.
Today, India ranks among the world’s leading countries in digital transactions. When fast internet will reach every village, it will be easy to study in the village. He said that the children of the village, our rural youth will also be able to access the world’s books, technology easily at a click.

Many leaders including Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi attended the event. Apart from Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Minister of State for Road and Transport General VK Singh from Delhi, many ministers including RK Singh, Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai attended.

Among the 9 highway projects that were laid today, 350 km long roads are to be built. These projects include development of Bakhtiyarpur-Rajauli section of the National Highway, Ara-Mohania section, Narenpur-Purnia section, Patna Ring Road (Kanhauli-Ramnagar) section along the Mahatma Gandhi Setu on the Ganges River in Patna, 14.5 kilometers on National Highway-19. Construction of long 4 lane bridge, 28.93 km long 4 lane bridge over Kosi river and 4.445 km long 4 lane bridge parallel to Vikramshila Setu on National Highway on Ganges river. These projects will cost 14,258 crore rupees.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the optical fiber internet services connecting 45,945 villages of Bihar, which will provide fast internet access to every corner of the state. The project will be implemented with the joint efforts of Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Information and Technology and Common Service Centers (CSCs). In 2015, Prime Minister Modi announced a special package for infrastructure development of Bihar.

Work was to be done on 15 projects at a cost of Rs 54,700 crore, out of which 13 projects have been completed, 38 projects are in progress while others are in the process of allocation or auction. Assembly elections are due in Bihar in October-November. In recent times, Prime Minister Modi has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of many projects related to development in Bihar.
